Rain returned to Hyderabad on Wednesday, May 21, bringing showers to several parts of the city. Neighborhoods such as Koti, MJ Market, Chaderghat, Dilsukhnagar, Kothapet, Malakpet, Champapet, Secunderabad, Basheerbagh, Jubilee Hills, Banjara Hills, and Punjagutta saw varying levels of rainfall.
Most areas received moderate rain, but some places experienced heavier downpours. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a warning, asking residents to stay cautious. They advised people to avoid unnecessary travel as traffic congestion is likely during heavy rains.
According to the IMD, a trough system is affecting the region. Because of this, temperatures across Telangana may fall by 3 to 5 degrees Celsius below normal. The rainy weather is expected to continue for the next three days.
The IMD also reported that favorable weather patterns may help the southwest monsoon move forward. It is expected to advance into the South Arabian Sea, more of the South Bay of Bengal, the remaining parts of the Andaman Sea, and areas in the Central Bay of Bengal.
Some districts may experience thunderstorms along with strong winds reaching speeds of 40 to 50 km/h. While scattered rainfall is likely in several areas, others may receive light to normal showers.
In Hyderabad, only light rain is predicted for the day, but residents are advised to stay updated on local weather alerts.
