    Hyderabad: Dr. Vemulapati Sridhar, a well-known Chartered Accountant, has earned a PhD in Law from Symbiosis International (Deemed University). His research focused on “Capital Gains Taxation in India – Issues, Challenges and a Blueprint for the Future.”

    Dr. Sridhar’s work was supervised by Dr. Bindu S Ronald, Vice-Chancellor of Maharashtra National Law University in Chatrapati Sambhaji Nagar. She previously taught at Symbiosis Law School Pune.

    The thesis highlights various problems and obstacles in the current capital gains taxation laws under the Income Tax Act, 1961. It also proposes several reforms and solutions.

    Originally from Nizamabad, Dr. Sridhar became a Chartered Accountant in 1993 and has been practicing since then. With over 30 years of experience, he has served on the Managing Committee of the Hyderabad Branch of SIRC of ICAI three times and was Chairman during 2007-2008.
