In Hyderabad, the All India Muslim Personal Law Board (AIMPLB) and Telangana's Muslim organizations are organizing a protest at Dharna Chowk this Sunday. The event is set to run from 2 pm to 5 pm and will carry the theme ‘Sunday is Waqf Day.’
A recent meeting brought together many important figures, including scholars and board members, to clear up any confusion about protest dates and to unite efforts for a single demonstration led by the AIMPLB.
Notable figures attending include Maulana Mufti Khaleel Ahmed, head of Jamia Nizamia, and Maulana Dr. Mateen Quadri, AIMPLB member. Others involved are Ziauddin Nayyar, Dr. Mohammad Mushtaq Ali, Maulana Hyder Nisar Agha, Maulana Masood Mushtahidi, and Hafsa Akhtar, who represents women’s voices on the board.
Prominent organization leaders in attendance will be Mufti Mahmood Zubair from Jamiat Ulema, Dr. Ali Hussaini from Quadri Chaman, Maulana Syed Ahmed-ul-Hussaini Sayeed-ul-Quadri, President of Quadria International, and Muneeruddin Mukhtar of the United Muslim Forum. Mufti Rafiuddin Rashadi, known for his work in Shariat protection, will also participate.
The peaceful protest will include not just Muslim leaders, but also representatives from secular parties and other faiths, such as Hindu, Christian, and Sikh community leaders, to show interfaith solidarity. A considerable turnout of women and young people is anticipated.
