Hyderabad is facing a serious sanitation problem. Garbage is piling up on streets, causing issues for residents. People are worried about illegal dumping, which leads to more mosquitoes and stray dogs.

Residents report that trash left on roads makes walking and driving difficult. The city sees rising cases of viral fevers because of poor sanitation. Despite asking the authorities to clean up and start sanitation drives, no action has been taken. In many areas, trash remains uncollected for several days after rainfall. The Old City is especially affected by these unhygienic conditions.

C. Shailender, living in Chintal, mentioned, “The bad smell makes the roads unbearable, and driving is risky when it rains.” Reports indicate an increase in diseases spread by mosquitoes. Poor sanitation is worsening the mosquito problem, affecting residents, especially children, with viral illnesses.

Areas like Nampally, Masab Tank, Mehdipatnam, Tolichowki, Shaikpet, Khairtabad, Malakpet, L B Nagar, Uppal, Kukatpally, and upscale neighborhoods like Banjara Hills, Jubilee Hills, and Madhapur are notably troubled by garbage. In the Old City, places such as Lal Darwaza, Santosh Nagar, Moghalpura, Shalibanda, and Saidabad suffer from neglected waste management, creating a bad odor and inconvenience.

Asif Hussain from Surya Nagar Colony in Shaikpet says the trash produces a terrible smell, making life difficult. Although the municipal corporation tries to control mosquito breeding during the monsoon, the problem persists due to poor garbage and drainage management, which become breeding grounds when ignored.

Despite having digital tools like the GHMC app and an online grievance system, complaints remain unresolved. Activist Mohammed Ahmed points out that issues are often marked as resolved without action, misleading both citizens and officials, including ministers, the Mayor, and the GHMC commissioner.
