    An 80-year-old retired Indian Army officer from Hyderabad, A Krishna Murthy, showed his support for wildlife by adopting an Asian elephant for a month. He gave a Rs 25,000 cheque to Dr. Sunil S Hiremath, the curator of Nehru Zoological Park, for the elephant’s expenses.

    Afterward, Krishna Murthy toured the zoo and praised the care given by the management. He checked on the elephants’ enclosure, their diet, and health, and expressed his gratitude for the chance to help wild animals. Dr. Sunil S Hiremath and A Nagamani, both curators at the zoo, thanked Krishna Murthy for his love for the animals.

    Krishna Murthy has also previously adopted hippos, great Indian rhinoceros, spiny lobsters, and Malayan sun bears.
