Hyderabad: The Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) is focusing on cleaning up the city during the monsoon. Commissioner R.V. Karnan has instructed field officers and sanitation workers to work hard to make Greater Hyderabad healthier.
On Wednesday, Commissioner Karnan, along with Zonal Commissioners Apurva Chauhan and Anurag Jayanthi, made surprise visits to check on the city’s sanitation efforts in Kukatpally and Khairatabad. These checks aim to prevent diseases during the rainy season.
During these visits, the team looked at how quickly waste is being cleared. They also checked the use of mosquito sprays, both fogging and anti-larvae. Cleaning efforts in parks, neighborhoods, and places with standing water were reviewed. They also evaluated public health awareness campaigns in the Kukatpally area.
Later, with Zonal Commissioner Anurag Jayanthi, Commissioner Karnan reviewed the sanitation program in Ameerpet, Panjagutta, and Begumpet in the Khairatabad circle.
The Commissioner stated that this special sanitation drive, which began on July 29, is running across 150 wards in Greater Hyderabad and will continue until August 8. This initiative is to protect the city’s health. He encouraged citizens to participate actively in this program to control diseases that spread during the monsoon.
Commissioner Karnan urged residents to support sanitation workers by not littering and preventing water from collecting around their homes.
