Beer sales have decreased this summer due to the unusual weather. Normally, beer sales are high during this season, especially during lunch and party hours. However, the continuous rains have led to a decrease in sales. Wine shop dealers have reported that the sales this year are lower than usual. Typically, 60 lakh cases of beer are sold during peak summer months, but this year it may not exceed 55 lakh cases unless temperatures increase.

The decrease in sales is not limited to wine shops but also includes pubs, bars, and restaurants. Licensed wine dealers have reported a decrease in sales during weekends. Despite anticipating a high demand for beer during summer, enough stocks were made available in all godowns.

The weather conditions have resulted in lower revenue expectations from the sale of chilled beer. State Excise and Prohibition officials remain hopeful that the next three weeks will bring favourable weather conditions for an increase in beer sales. The IMD has predicted that local temperatures will be high until the end of May.
