    The Indian Institute of Technology-Hyderabad will host the second edition of the Ministry of Education’s Research and Development Innovation Fair, called IInvenTiv-2024. The event will take place on January 19 and 20 and aims to promote innovation in line with the Make India and Digital India initiatives. This year, not only IIT institutions but also other leading higher education institutions will participate in the fair, including NITs, IISERs, IIITs, IISc-Bangalore, and the top 50 NIRF-ranked engineering institutions. The fair is being organized to celebrate the 75th year of independence as part of the Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav initiative. The first edition was held in IIT-Delhi in 2022, with the participation of 23 IITs.

    The fair will focus on various domains, including affordable healthcare, agriculture and food processing, sustainable technologies (such as climate change, E-mobility, and clean energy), industry 4.0, and defense and space. The showcase will feature the top 120 innovations from these domains, selected from the 53 participating technical institutions. Affordable healthcare has the highest number of registrations, with 35 innovators participating, followed by sustainable technologies with 31 innovators.

    IIT-Hyderabad’s director, BS Murty, expressed his delight in hosting the second edition of the fair and highlighted the increased inclusivity this time with the participation of technologies from 30 more institutes in addition to the 23 IITs. He hopes that industry participants attending the event will collaborate with the inventors to realize the commercial potential of these technologies and make India a global player in these areas.

    Dr. BVR Mohan Reddy, chairman of the IInvenTiv-2024 steering committee, emphasized that this collaboration will not only capitalize on research endeavors but also facilitate industrial investments for the innovation of products designed for India and the global market. The selected projects will be showcased in designated booths during the event, which is expected to be attended by representatives from more than 1,000 industries and key government officials.

    In addition to the exhibition, the event will also feature panel discussions for each domain, bringing together experts and leaders to discuss challenges and opportunities in these sectors. The first day of the event will be exclusive to industry participants, allowing them to engage with cutting-edge innovations actively. The following day will be open to the public, providing an opportunity for a wider audience to witness the latest breakthroughs in technology and research.

    From Telangana, IIT-Hyderabad will showcase innovations in the affordable healthcare domain with Nanofibers-based Feminine, IIIT-Hyderabad will showcase Smart City ctOp in the industry 4.0 domain, and NIT-Warangal will showcase a hybrid wastewater treatment system in the sustainable technology domain.
