Hyderabad: The Fire Services department held an awareness program on Saturday at the State Secretariat to teach fire safety and prevention techniques. This event was aimed at the Special Protection Force (SPF) personnel, who recently took over security duties from the Telangana Special Police at the Secretariat.
Assistant District Fire Officer GV Prasad and other officials provided detailed instructions on basic fire safety measures. They taught the SPF personnel how to use fire extinguishers and other fixed fire installations. The firefighters also explained fire evacuation procedures and gave tips on fire prevention.
As part of the program, a live demonstration was conducted on how to carry out a rescue operation using a Bronto Sky Lift (BSL). The SPF personnel were also shown the “two-man method,” which includes breathing exercises and artificial respiration techniques. Chief Security Officer of the Secretariat, Devdas, along with other SPF staff, participated in the training.
Previously, the Telangana Special Police was in charge of the Secretariat’s security. However, after recent protests from constables of different police battalions, the responsibility was transferred to the Telangana Special Protection Force (TGSPF). On November 1st, 214 SPF personnel assumed their roles, taking charge of guarding the gates, patrolling the premises, and conducting internal surveillance.
