Seven arrested in Hyderabad for involvement in dating app scam.

The Cyberabad police caught seven people involved in a scam where they used dating apps to trick victims into going to pubs and then overcharging them. The arrested individuals were Aakash Kumar, Suraj Kumar, Akshat Narula, Tarun, Shiv Raj Nayak, Rohith Kumar, and Cherkupally Sai Kumar. They would contact people through a dating app and then take them to Mosh Pub in Madhapur, making them drink expensive liquor and charging them huge amounts.

The Madhapur police stated that the scammers would attract customers by showing them attractive girls on the dating app and then bring them to the pub, where they would be pressured into drinking expensive alcohol. The police seized eight mobile phones and two four-wheelers worth Rs 40 lakh from the scammers.

Authorities advised the public to report any information about groups that scam innocent customers through dating apps at pubs and bars in Hyderabad. Reports can be made through Dial 100, the Anti-Drug Abuse helpline at 9490617182, or by contacting the Cyberabad police on WhatsApp at 9490617444. Informants’ identities will be kept confidential.
