Kothagudem: Mahalaya Amavasya, also known as Sarvapitri Amavasya, was observed in the industrial town of Palvoncha on Wednesday. This day is an important Hindu festival dedicated to honoring ancestors, marking the end of Pitru Paksha, a period when people offer prayers to their departed family members.

The event was organized by the Shyamala Gopalan Education Foundation (SGEF), led by its founder and chairman, N. Suresh Reddy. He performed special prayers in memory of Shyamala Gopalan Harris, the late mother of U.S. Vice President Kamala Harris, seeking blessings for her success in the upcoming U.S. elections.
