Khammam: The Shyamala Gopalan Educational Foundation (SGEF) is launching new projects for the Government Junior College in Basavatharakam Panchayati, located in the Kothagudem district of Palvoncha. These projects include giving uniforms to all students, starting a midday meal program, and upgrading the college’s facilities. At a recent event, attended by District Intermediate Education Officer (DIEO) H. Venkateswarlu and SGEF Founder Suresh Reddy Nalla, students received new uniforms. Plans were shared to transform the school into a model campus with help from the Sonu Sood Charity Foundation.

SGEF is known for offering scholarships, health services, and rural development projects. They plan to expand by opening an international school named after Dr. Shyamala Gopalan. During the event, Nalla promised students that the college would get resources to compete with top private schools. He also announced a new Midday Meal Programme in response to the principal’s request.

The Foundation has provided scholarships and financial help to needy students, career guidance, and skill workshops for young people in rural areas. They have given educational kits to government school students and organized free health check-ups for kids. SGEF has also run nutrition programs for malnourished students, supported small transport drivers with health insurance, and worked on preserving culture by restoring a Kakatiya-era temple. They have organized cataract surgery camps and given bicycles to help students reach schools.

SGEF’s future plans include opening an international school, offering training in English and communication skills, and expanding the midday meal program to more government schools. During the event, Nalla spoke about Dr. Shyamala Gopalan’s enduring legacy, inspiring the Foundation’s mission. Students were excited to receive their uniforms, showing their gratitude with prayers. DIEO Venkateswarlu praised SGEF’s dedication to improving public education, calling it a major advancement for the community.
