    G Shyam Kumar, a staff photographer for The Hans India in Warangal, has won the State First Prize in a photo competition organized by the Telangana Photo Journalists Association and the Department of Language and Culture, Telangana. The competition took place as part of World Photography Day on August 19, 2022.

    Other photojournalists from Warangal who received consolation prizes include Ramesh from Mana Telangana, Venkanna and Prathap from Namasthe Telangana, and Mohan from Eenadu (Jangaon).

    Shyam’s award-winning photograph captures two policemen assisting a woman with her newborn baby to safety during heavy rainfall near Mulugu Road Junction in Warangal on August 1, 2022.

    The prizes will be presented to the winners by Health Minister T Harish Rao at Ravindra Bharati on Sunday, August 20, at 4 pm.
