The Students Islamic Organisation (SIO) Telangana has criticized the Telangana Government for awarding the film ‘Razakar’ with the Gaddar Award for Best Historical Film. SIO refers to ‘Razakar’ as a propaganda film that distorts history, portraying it as factual while targeting the Muslim community in Hyderabad.
According to Mohammed Faraz Ahmed, State President of SIO Telangana, the film, supported by BJP leaders, spreads false narratives that harm the city’s tradition of communal harmony. He argues that the film unfairly blames an entire community and ignores well-documented historical violence.
Ahmed also criticized the Congress-led government for supporting such narratives, which he believes betray the state’s diversity. He called the use of ‘Gaddar’ in the film’s context disrespectful to the revolutionary figure known for advocating justice and equality.
SIO Telangana urges the government to withdraw this award and distance itself from divisive content. The group calls on justice-focused organizations and individuals to oppose the normalization of hate.
Ahmed also encourages citizens, particularly the youth, to rely on verified historical accounts rather than propaganda-driven narratives from the Sangh.
