The Hyderabad Airport Metro project has progressed to the testing phase after the alignment and completion of peg marking. The testing process, which began on Monday, aims to determine the soil-bearing capacity for the Metro pillars that will be installed between IKEA and the Shamshabad International Airport. The Managing Director of Hyderabad Airport Metro Ltd (HAML), NVS Reddy, has stated that the soil testing will take around two months and will involve taking borehole soil samples up to a depth of 40 ft from the road surface at each location. Both in-situ tests and lab tests of soil samples will be conducted to determine the soil bearing capacity. The results of the tests will be used to design the foundations, including determining the type of foundation, such as open or pile foundation, the required depth of the foundation, and the allowable bearing pressure. Detailed soil investigation is crucial for ensuring the safety and stability of the Metro pillars and the overall success of the project.
