    The Telangana High Court, with Chief Justice Alok Aradhe and Justice T Vinod Kumar, addressed a public interest litigation regarding phone-tapping. The court issued notices to various officials, including the Union Home Secretary and State DGP, to respond to the news item on this issue. Additional A-G Imran Khan stated that the State government filed a counter-affidavit and requested four weeks to update the court on the progress of the investigation.

    The court took up the case based on a news report that revealed illegal phone tapping during the previous government’s tenure. The police officials involved in the tapping included Mekala Tirupathanna, D Praneeth Rao, and G Radhakrishan Rao, under the supervision of T Prabhakar Rao. The case was adjourned to July 23 for filing counter-affidavits.

    In another hearing, Justice Bollam Vijaysen Reddy adjourned two writs seeking the disqualification of BRS MLAs who defected to the Congress. The Advocate-General requested two weeks to present his arguments. The writs were filed by MLAs Kuna Pandu Vivekananda and Padi Kaushik Reddy, seeking action against the defected MLAs. The case was adjourned to July 8 for further proceedings.
