South Zone police break up illegal liquor operation, arrest 3

In Hyderabad, police arrested three people for illegally buying and selling liquor without a license, breaking Excise Rules. Officers from the Commissioner’s Task Force, South Zone Team, and Chatrinaka Police seized 70.2 liters of liquor, valued at Rs 50,000.

The arrested individuals are N Shobha Rani, known as Lalithamma (50), Deepak Kumar (26), and Nitish Kumar (21), all from Chatrinaka. They confiscated 195 bottles of liquor and beer from them.

Police revealed that Lalithamma frequently sells liquor unlawfully. She purchases large quantities from local wine shops and resells them at higher prices from her home after hours.

Ande Srinivasa Rao, Additional DCP Task Force, noted that 33 cases have already been filed against her for similar offenses. Deepak and Nitish are also involved, transporting liquor on motorcycles to sell it illegally for quick profits within Chatrinaka without licenses, according to the DCP.

Upon receiving a tip-off, the police caught them in the act of selling and moving the liquor. They handed the suspects and seized items to the Chatrinaka Police for further proceedings. The Chatrinaka Police have registered a case under section 34(a) of the TS Excise Act and are investigating further.
