Hyderabad: As part of getting ready for the monsoon season, GHMC Commissioner RV Karnan instructed officials on Friday to speed up drain work to avoid causing problems for the public. He checked the drain work in the Santoshnagar Circle of the Charminar zone. Yakutpura MLA Jaffar Hussain Meraj, MLC Mirza Riaz-ul-Hasan Effendi, and other department officers joined him.
The inspection aimed to address overflow issues from connected nalas and sewage lines. They looked at Maula Ka Chilla, Ganganagar nala, and other areas. Plans are being prepared to present to the corporation, focusing on solving the overflow at Rangeeli Khidki, near Rahmania Madarsa.
Jaffar Hussain explained the problems residents face due to the drains. EE BL Srinivas told the commissioner that 70% of the Ganganagar nala repairs are done. Karnan instructed the project officer to hurry up the work.
The water pipeline runs alongside the Ganganagar nala, so the GHMC maintenance engineering wing and Water Board officials must work together on its cleaning. There is a need for a drainage canal from Jahangir Nagar Colony to Maula Ka Chilla nala. Engineering officials have been asked to prepare plans for this.
During the visit, they also talked about the upcoming Moharram routes and maintaining Ashurkhaanas. Karnan requested proposals, promising quick approval to ensure all preparations are ready.
