Telangana aims to become the ‘Aerospace Capital of India’, according to IT and Industries Minister Duddilla Sridhar Babu. On Friday, he led a meeting with aerospace entrepreneurs and experts at the Dr. B.R. Ambedkar Telangana Secretariat. This session, organized with the FICCI Telangana Aerospace and Defence Committee, discussed ways to strengthen the state’s aerospace industry and explore future growth opportunities.
Hyderabad has been developing its aerospace sector for the past six decades. Today, it hosts over 30 major aerospace and defense companies and more than 1,000 small and medium enterprises (MSMEs). Big names like DRDO, HAL, GMR, Tata, Adani-Elbit, Safran, and Boeing–TASL JV operate in the city. Aerospace exports from the region have exceeded Rs 28,000 crore. The government plans to make Telangana the top aerospace hub with strategic planning.
The minister announced new plans for a second phase of the Adibatla Aerospace SEZ. This includes an Aerospace and Defence Cluster and a dedicated park for aerospace MSMEs. The goal is to turn Hyderabad into a Green Aviation Hub, focusing on drone technology and eco-friendly aviation fuels.
A special task force will be created to oversee industrial development, ensure smooth approvals, and resolve issues. The minister called on the industry to help address the shortage of skilled workers by collaborating with ITIs and Polytechnic Colleges.
Minister Babu emphasized that with industry support, Telangana can develop its youth into world-class professionals in areas like design, avionics, and digital technologies.
