Hyderabad: The State IT and Industries Minister, D Sridhar Babu, highlighted the importance of eco-friendly building methods to tackle global issues like climate change, urbanization, pollution, and carbon emissions.
He discussed the Telangana government’s strategic efforts in adopting these practices and urged civil engineers to play a crucial role in this transformation.
The minister also mentioned the state’s ambitious target of providing 500,000 Indiramma houses to eligible people within three and a half years. He spoke during the opening of a two-day national conference on “Next-Gen High-Rise Buildings – Advancements in Composite and Steel Structures,” organized by the Association of Consulting Civil Engineers at the Hyderabad Center.
Sridhar Babu pointed out that Telangana’s construction sector saw a remarkable 11.97% growth in the fiscal year 2024-25. This sector contributed over Rs 80,000 crore to the state’s economy, representing 24.9% of the gross value added in the services sector, showcasing its strong growth.
