Hyderabad: Dr. Yogita Rana, the State Education Secretary, stated that providing high-quality education is crucial for social change and students’ futures.
The State government aims to ensure quality education in Government Junior Colleges. This was discussed during a state-level meeting on Thursday at the Telangana Board of Intermediate Education (TGBIE) office, which included District Intermediate Education Officers (DIEOs) and Principals of GJCs.
Krishna Aditya, Secretary and Director of TGBIE, also attended the meeting.
Dr. Rana urged DIEOs and Principals to collaborate in providing essential support and guidance to students in government colleges. About 75,000 students are currently enrolled in first-year Intermediate courses in GJCs. Accurate admission records must be maintained in the UDISE database.
Officials highlighted the need to increase student enrollment and ensure participation in the Intermediate Public Examinations (IPE).
Krishna Aditya instructed DIEOs to form various academic committees with school principals. These committees will implement programs for students’ overall development. Each college will hold parent-teacher meetings to boost community involvement.
Free online coaching for competitive exams like JEE, NEET, CLAT, and EAPCET will be available through platforms such as Physics Wallah and Khan Academy. Plans are in place to offer transport and hostel facilities for rural and underprivileged students in partnership with TGSRTC and welfare departments.
Colleges are encouraged to boost student attendance through engaging activities. Principals should motivate students to join leadership, sports, and cultural events.
Timely registration for scholarships through welfare departments is crucial. Life skills and awareness programs will be organized with the help of organizations like the HELP Foundation, Heartfulness Institute, and Prajwala.
