Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy will inaugurate a major infrastructure project in Hyderabad with the completion of a Grade Separator (Road Over Bridge) at LC No. 7 on the Secunderabad-Falaknuma-Shivarampally Railway Line. The project, located at Shastripuram connecting Mailardevpally to Falaknuma RTC Bus Depot, has been constructed at a cost of ₹71 crore. The infrastructure development aims to significantly improve traffic flow and reduce congestion in the area.
The newly constructed grade separator spans a total length of 490 meters, with the railway portion measuring 37.28 meters. The flyover has been designed with a width of 16.60 meters and features a 4-lane carriageway with two lanes on each side. This modern infrastructure will facilitate smoother vehicular movement and eliminate the traffic bottlenecks that have long plagued commuters at the railway crossing.
The structural design of the project incorporates advanced engineering techniques. The viaduct features open foundations with single pier and RCC precast pier caps for the substructure, while the superstructure utilizes steel girders. The bridge is equipped with POT-PTFE bearings and both modular and strip seal expansion joints to ensure durability and smooth operation. The approaches have been constructed using reinforced earth retaining walls with geo strips, along with precast friction slabs and crash barriers for enhanced safety.
The completion of this grade separator is expected to bring significant benefits to daily commuters and residents of the area. The project will reduce travel time by approximately 30 minutes for vehicles traveling between Mailardevpally, Vattepally, and Falaknuma RTC Depot. The uninterrupted traffic flow will also contribute to reduced fuel consumption and lower air pollution levels in the surrounding neighborhoods.
Traffic congestion at railway level crossings has been a persistent problem in Hyderabad, causing delays and frustration for commuters. The new grade separator will eliminate waiting times at the railway crossing, allowing vehicles to pass over the railway line without interruption. This infrastructure development is part of the state government’s broader initiative to modernize urban transport networks and improve connectivity across the city.
The project represents a collaborative effort between railway authorities and the state government to address critical infrastructure needs. With the elimination of the level crossing, both road and rail traffic will operate more efficiently, enhancing safety and reducing the risk of accidents. The ₹71 crore investment in this project demonstrates the government’s commitment to developing sustainable and efficient transportation infrastructure for the growing urban population of Hyderabad.
