Hyderabad: State Minister Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy announced that by October 2, licensed surveyor services will be available across Telangana. This date coincides with Gandhi Jayanti. The initiative aims to improve land registration processes and strengthen the neglected Survey Department.
During a review meeting on Sunday, the Minister mentioned that the second phase of training for these surveyors will start on August 18 at 23 district centers. Candidates need to be at their designated Assistant Directors of the Survey Department by 10 a.m. that day.
Reddy explained that land registration under the new Land Act requires skilled surveyors. “We aim to have these services ready by Gandhi Jayanti,” he said.
The first training phase, from May 26 to July 26, trained 7,000 individuals at district centers. Practical exams took place on July 28 and 29 under Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University (JNTU) supervision, and results are already out. Successful candidates have started a 40-day apprenticeship, after which they’ll receive licenses.
To ensure efficient service, Reddy instructed officials to create a detailed survey manual. “The Revenue and Survey Departments are closely linked,” he stressed. Improving the Survey Department will enhance the Revenue system. The Minister noted the decade-long neglect of the Survey Department and promised a revival through targeted training and regulation.
The introduction of licensed surveyor services is expected to improve land governance, decrease disputes, and help citizens obtain accurate property records. With new training underway, Telangana is setting a standard in land administration reform.
