Hyderabad: Deputy Chief Minister Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka announced that both national and international companies are showing interest in investing in the green energy sector. This interest is growing due to the new Green Energy Policy introduced by the state government.
On Wednesday, Ecoren Energy India Private Limited and GPRS Arya Private Limited signed an agreement (MoU) with TG REDCO, pledging to invest a total of ₹29,000 crore. The agreement was signed in the presence of the Deputy Chief Minister. Ecoren Energy plans to generate 5,600 megawatts (MW) of green energy with an investment of ₹27,000 crore.
The Minister shared that the peak electricity demand in the state, which was 15,623 MW in March 2024, has already increased to 17,162 MW this year. It is expected to rise further to 24,215 MW by 2029-30, and 31,809 MW by 2034-35. To meet this growing need, the government is making long-term plans to expand power generation, especially through clean and green energy sources.
Bhatti Vikramarka said that the state aims to produce 20,000 MW of green energy by 2030 and another 20,000 MW by 2035, totaling 40,000 MW. The government has created an action plan to reach this goal.
Ecoren Energy’s representatives said they will create a detailed schedule and plan to begin energy production within a set timeframe. The state government will offer the necessary help to make this happen. The Minister also praised GPRS Arya Private Limited for agreeing to invest ₹2,000 crore to develop compressed biogas projects in 15 districts.
He added that Telangana, being the largest producer of paddy in the country, can benefit economically from making compressed biogas from rice straw. This will help farmers earn additional income while supporting clean energy efforts.
