Hyderabad: Union Minister of State for Home Affairs, Bandi Sanjay Kumar, has asked the Union Minister of Tourism and Culture, Gajendra Singh Shekhawat, to help develop three places in Telangana—Vemulawada, Kondagattu, and Illandakunta—into spiritual retreat centers. He also requested funds for the state from the Special Assistance for Capital Investment (SASCI) scheme.
On Wednesday evening, Bandi Sanjay Kumar met separately with both Gajendra Singh Shekhawat and Union Defence Minister Rajnath Singh in New Delhi. He submitted a formal request describing the need for these developments.
During his meeting, Bandi Sanjay stressed the importance of boosting tourism in Telangana by improving these spiritual sites. He urged that the central government release funds under the SASCI scheme for this purpose. In response, Gajendra Singh Shekhawat agreed to look into the request and asked officials to take necessary steps.
Bandi Sanjay Kumar also brought up the need for a Sainik School in either the Sircilla or Siddipet district. He pointed out that there are no such schools in Sircilla or Husnabad towns, even though many young people in the area want to join the Indian Armed Forces.
He explained that Sainik Schools help students develop discipline, leadership, and a spirit of national service. Setting up such a school would give students in rural areas access to quality education and improve their chances of joining the military.
Bandi Sanjay further said that the state government is willing to provide land and infrastructure if the central government approves the school. According to him, Rajnath Singh responded positively and instructed officials to explore the possibility of setting up a Sainik School in Sircilla.
