Some student organizations at the University of Hyderabad protested against the state police’s closure report on the case related to the suicide of Rohith Vemula, a PhD scholar at the university in 2016. The students claimed that the police cleared all the accused without properly investigating the facts of the case.

The students stated that the report tried to undermine Rohith’s caste identity by ignoring evidence supporting his SC status and focusing on testimony that questioned it. They also criticized the report for relying solely on a caste report issued by the Guntur Collector and disregarding the family’s challenge to it.

The protesting students called on the state government to ensure justice is served and demanded action against the investigating officers. They emphasized the need for a fair and unbiased investigation and vowed to continue their fight until justice is achieved.
