Hyderabad: Politicians from different parties honored veteran CPI leader Suravaram Sudhakar Reddy, who passed away on Saturday. Notable figures like Telangana Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy, AP CM N Chandrababu Naidu, and BRS working president K T Rama Rao visited Makhdoom Bhavan to pay their respects. The leader’s body was later donated to Gandhi Medical College with State honors.
The Telangana CM expressed that Sudhakar Reddy’s death is a significant loss for the state. He admired Reddy for living bravely and standing strong in his ideological beliefs. The CM announced that, similar to the State Horticulture University naming after Konda Lakshman Bapuji and the Palamuru Rangareddy Lift irrigation Project after S Jaipal Reddy, Sudhakar Reddy’s name would also be remembered permanently. A request to name the Telugu University after Suravaram Pratap Reddy was promptly accepted by the CM, following a letter from Reddy.
Sudhakar Reddy was celebrated for bringing pride to Mahbubnagar district. The state government decided to conduct his last rites with full state honors. The Congress party remembered his contributions in a Political Affairs Committee meeting, with AICC President Mallikarjun Kharge expressing condolences.
AP CM Chandrababu Naidu shared his long connection with Sudhakar Reddy, mentioning their joint participation in many movements concerning people’s issues. Naidu highlighted Reddy’s significant influence in national politics and his service as an MLA. He recalled their collaboration during various central government formations and democratic movements, emphasizing Reddy’s personal support and friendship.
KT Rama Rao described Reddy’s passing as a major loss. He remembered Reddy’s pivotal role in people’s movements, his seven-year leadership of the CPI, and his important support for Telangana statehood. From a student leader to a national figure, Reddy’s journey demonstrated remarkable dedication.
Deputy CM Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka and Ministers Seethakka and Jupally Krishna Rao also paid tribute to the esteemed leader.
