Hyderabad continues to attract global financial majors, with Swiss banking giant UBS announcing a significant expansion of its operations in the city. This marks the company’s second major expansion in Hyderabad within the last two years, underlining the city’s growing importance as a global banking and financial services hub.
UBS has taken on a fresh lease of around 150,000 square feet at Phoenix Centaurus in Gachibowli, located next to the Microsoft campus. The new office space is currently being readied, and early visuals of the facility were recently shared by UBS officials on LinkedIn, offering a sneak peek into the upcoming workspace.
Second Expansion in Two Years
In January last year, UBS expanded its Hyderabad presence by leasing office space at Phoenix Aquila. The latest move at Phoenix Centaurus signals a sharp acceleration in the bank’s growth plans in the city, driven by increasing demand for technology, analytics, risk management, and global support functions.
Industry sources say the new facility will further strengthen UBS’s Global Capability Centre (GCC) operations, which play a critical role in supporting the bank’s worldwide business.
Why Hyderabad?
Hyderabad has emerged as a preferred destination for global banking and financial services firms due to its strong talent pool, modern commercial infrastructure, and stable policy environment. Over the past few years, several international banks and financial institutions have expanded their technology and operations teams in the city.
The Gachibowli–Financial District corridor, in particular, has become a hotspot for multinational offices, hosting major global technology firms, financial institutions, and consulting companies.
Boost to Office Market and Jobs
UBS’s latest lease is expected to provide a further boost to Hyderabad’s commercial real estate market, especially in Grade-A office developments. Large transactions such as this also reinforce investor confidence in the city’s office sector.
While the company has not officially disclosed hiring numbers, such expansions typically translate into hundreds of new high-skilled jobs across technology, data, compliance, and global banking support functions.
Growing Presence of Global Banks
The continued expansion of UBS reflects a broader trend of global banks deepening their footprint in Hyderabad. Analysts say the city is steadily positioning itself alongside Bengaluru and Pune as a key hub for banking and financial services GCCs in India.
With UBS doubling down on its Hyderabad operations, the city’s status as a strategic base for global financial institutions appears set to strengthen further in the coming years.
