Residents Stop Tanker from Dumping Chemicals into Musi River

Residents of Langar Houz took quick action on Monday night when they spotted a tanker attempting to dump harmful chemical waste into the Musi River. The vehicle was intercepted near the Ram Temple close to Bapu Ghat.

The tanker, which had “Hydrochloric Acid” written in bold letters, raised suspicion as it approached the riverbed. This incident has sparked outrage among locals, especially since the State government is actively working on a project to restore and rejuvenate the Musi River.

When questioned by the residents, the driver admitted that he had been instructed to dispose of chemical waste in the river. Acting swiftly, the residents reported the matter to the Attapur police.

Authorities arrived at the scene, took the driver into custody, and seized the tanker carrying the hazardous material. The incident highlights ongoing challenges in protecting the Musi River from pollution.
