Andhra Pradesh Home Minister Tanethi Vanitha was allegedly attacked by TDP members in Gopalapuram. The incident happened while the Minister was returning to her overnight stay at the residence of former ZPTC Subrahmanyam in Nallajlara.

The YSRCP has accused the TDP of increasing violence in Andhra Pradesh during the election campaign. They cited the attack on Home Minister Tanethi Vanitha while she was campaigning in the Gopalapuram constituency of East Godavari.

TDP members reportedly attacked the YSRCP’s campaign vehicle, damaged furniture, and caused a lot of disturbance. There have been multiple incidents of violent attacks by TDP members across the state, with several YSRCP women party workers facing harassment before the polls.

Apart from the attack on Home Minister Tanethi Vanitha in Gopalapuram, similar incidents occurred in Vijayawada and Banganapalle. In Vijayawada, Bonda Uma’s associates harassed YSRCP women workers, while in Banganapalle, TDP supporters targeted YSRCP women wing leaders.

Political analysts believe that the TDP is resorting to desperate measures because they fear strong support for Jagan among women voters. This fear could lead to a significant defeat for the TDP, pushing them to take drastic actions.

Furthermore, analysts note that the TDP’s actions have hindered welfare schemes for women, like YSR Cheyutha and EBC Nestham. By filing complaints with the Election Commission, they caused a delay in distributing funds amounting to Rs. 10,000 crore.
