Wanaparthy District: Teachers need to regularly inform students about the POCSO Act.

District Collector Adarsh Surabhi and SP Ravula Giridhar highlighted the crucial role of teachers in spreading awareness about the POCSO Act to prevent child-related crimes.
Following the Collector’s guidance, the Police Department conducted a training session on the POCSO Act for teachers at the District Collectorate’s conference hall.
The Collector stressed that everyone has a part to play in safeguarding children, with teachers being particularly significant. He urged teachers to educate students on good and bad touch. Teachers should act as third parents, vigilantly watching over children to guide them properly.
Teachers also have a vital role in addressing child marriages. In such cases, they should contact 1098 for confidential reporting. Educating about the harms of marrying before 18 and stopping dowry practices are also important.
SP Giridhar Ravula insisted that teachers must raise awareness on good and bad touch in schools. Parents at home should also supervise children. He believes crimes decrease when society unites against them. Teachers should responsibly raise awareness about the POCSO Act.
The SP mentioned the Collector’s support helps reduce cyber crimes, and they aim to lower POCSO cases too. Everyone must speak against child-related crimes. The SP hosted a quiz on the POCSO Act, explaining answers and clearing teachers’ doubts.
A skit by the police department on the POCSO Act captivated the audience.
District Education Officer Abdul Ghani, DCPO Rambabu, Child Chapter NGO head Zakir Hussain, along with principals, teachers, and police staff, attended the meeting.
