In an important step to meet the growing electricity needs of Telangana, Deputy Chief Minister Bhatti Vikramarka announced a new power agreement with Himachal Pradesh. This deal supports Telangana’s “Clean and Green Energy Policy – 2025” and focuses on using clean energy to protect the environment. The agreement was made during Bhatti’s meeting with Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu in Shimla.

Bhatti explained that this partnership will help Telangana get clean electricity at a lower cost. It will also benefit Himachal Pradesh by allowing it to make use of its large hydroelectric resources. He pointed out that hydropower is cheaper to produce than thermal power, and while the cost of thermal power is going up, the cost of hydropower is going down.

He also said that Himachal Pradesh’s natural conditions make it possible to generate hydropower for almost nine to ten months each year. This clean energy will be supplied to Telangana in a way that is both affordable and good for the environment. The electricity project will be carried out by Telangana Genco, the state-run power company, through a special nomination process.
