Telangana Announces Public Holiday for Local Elections

The Telangana government has declared a holiday on Wednesday for the municipal elections. This break is for people working in factories, shops, and industries in the election areas. The announcement was made on Tuesday to encourage people to vote.

Elections are happening in one phase across the state, covering 116 municipalities and 7 corporations. There are 12,930 candidates running. The Election Commission has organized 8,203 polling stations and 16,301 ballot boxes. Voting will take place from 7 am to 5 pm, and results will be out on 13 February.

All voting arrangements are complete. Liquor shops will stay closed during voting hours. Strong security measures are in place, and officials are encouraging everyone to participate in the elections. This decision aims to boost voter turnout.
