Telangana is set to experience a severe heatwave starting from April 12, with the intense weather conditions expected to persist for 10 consecutive days until April 22. Weather authorities have issued warnings for the entire state, with temperatures forecast to soar above 40 degrees Celsius across all districts. The northern and eastern regions of the state have been marked as red zones, indicating particularly dangerous heat conditions where mercury levels are expected to cross 44 degrees Celsius in several areas. Residents are advised to take necessary precautions and avoid unnecessary outdoor activities during peak afternoon hours.

Hyderabad, the state capital, will not be spared from the scorching heat, with temperatures predicted to touch 40 to 41 degrees Celsius throughout the heatwave period. The city’s residents can expect no respite from the extreme weather conditions during this extended spell of intense heat. Meteorological experts have indicated that rainfall during this period will be minimal and isolated, offering little relief from the sweltering conditions. The continuous high temperatures for such an extended duration pose significant health risks, particularly for vulnerable populations including children, elderly citizens, and outdoor workers.

Health officials are urging citizens to stay hydrated and limit their exposure to direct sunlight during the afternoon hours when temperatures peak. The red-marked districts in North and East Telangana require special attention as these areas will face the most severe heat conditions. Authorities recommend that residents avoid planning any non-essential travel during afternoon hours and ensure adequate water intake throughout the day. Schools and workplaces are being advised to adjust their schedules to minimize exposure during the hottest parts of the day.

Emergency services have been put on alert, and cooling centers may be established in severely affected districts. Agricultural activities and outdoor labor are expected to be significantly affected during this period. Residents are advised to monitor weather updates regularly and follow safety guidelines issued by authorities to protect themselves from heat-related illnesses during the April 12-22 heatwave period.
