The Telangana Cabinet, chaired by Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy on October 1, approved decisions on employee allowances, drought response, paddy procurement, power generation and other state matters.
The Cabinet approved the release of two pending Dearness Allowances (DAs) for government employees and Dearness Relief (DR) for pensioners. The government will pay the arrears in instalments. The decision is expected to carry an annual financial burden of about ₹2,500 crore.
Ministers discussed El Niño conditions and drought concerns after Telangana recorded a 17% rainfall deficit, with drought-like conditions reported in about 235 mandals. The state will hold an all-party meeting and seek assistance from the Centre.
The Cabinet said paddy procurement centres would open soon. The Civil Supplies Department estimates that the state will procure around 65 lakh metric tonnes of paddy during the kharif season.
Peak power demand in Telangana reached a record 19,892 MW, compared with 16,613 MW in the previous year. The Cabinet approved plans for about 7,800 MW of new renewable power capacity, including solar, battery storage and wind projects.
The government will speed up work on a world-class integrated fruit market at Koheda, in Abdullapurmet mandal of Ranga Reddy district, using government funding. The Cabinet also approved stopping 10 irrigation projects under the engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) mode that had remained incomplete for a long period.
Telangana will introduce a dedicated digital media advertising policy in line with the Centre’s digital advertising framework. The Cabinet also approved a Deputy Commissioner post at Telangana Bhavan in New Delhi and the deployment of four Group-I officers to work for the state government in Delhi.
