Two senior IAS officers have assumed charge as Chairmen and Managing Directors of Telangana’s power distribution companies, marking a significant administrative reshuffle in the state’s electricity sector. Jitesh V. Patil, a 2016 batch IAS officer, has taken over as CMD of TGSPDCL (Telangana State Southern Power Distribution Company Limited), while Musharraf Ali Faruqui, a 2014 batch IAS officer, has been appointed as CMD of a newly formed DISCOM in the state.
Upon taking charge, Jitesh V. Patil pledged to ensure uninterrupted and quality power supply to consumers under the jurisdiction of TGSPDCL. The newly appointed CMD emphasized the importance of maintaining reliable electricity distribution services across the southern districts of Telangana. His appointment comes at a crucial time when the state is focusing on improving its power infrastructure and ensuring better service delivery to residential, commercial, and industrial consumers.
Musharraf Ali Faruqui, who assumed charge as CMD of the newly formed DISCOM, announced that work on restructuring has already begun as per government directives. The restructuring initiative is part of the state government’s broader strategy to enhance operational efficiency and improve the financial health of power distribution companies in Telangana. The formation of the new DISCOM reflects the government’s commitment to reforming the electricity sector and providing better services to consumers across different regions.
