The Telangana government has invited applications for new liquor store licences. Submissions are open from tomorrow and will close on 18 October. Licences will be granted through a draw on 23 October.
These licences will be valid from 1 December 2025 until 30 November 2027. The tender fee is now £3 lakh, increased from £2 lakh. Applicants can pay this fee in six instalments instead of all at once.
Current liquor licenses will expire on 30 November. Anyone with a conviction under the 1968 Excise Act cannot apply for new licenses. Among the 2,620 liquor stores in the state, there are reservations: 15% for Gowdas, 10% for Scheduled Castes, and 5% for Scheduled Tribes.
