The Telangana government has announced significant relief for candidates aspiring to join uniformed services in the state. The General Administration Department has issued orders extending the maximum age limit for applicants seeking Constable and equivalent posts by an additional three years. This decision applies to direct recruitment in the Police, Fire Services, Prisons and Special Protection Force.

This latest extension comes on top of an earlier seven-year age relaxation already granted for uniformed service recruitment. With the new orders in place, candidates will now benefit from a cumulative relaxation that provides greater opportunity for aspirants who were previously ineligible due to age constraints. The move is part of the government’s effort to bring uniformity in age criteria across different recruitment categories in uniformed services.

Under current rules, the upper age limit stands at 32 years for Sub-Inspector posts and 29 years for Constable posts. The additional three-year relaxation will now apply to these categories, allowing more candidates to participate in upcoming recruitment drives. However, the General Administration Department has clarified that the additional relaxation will not be applicable to Police Constable Driver posts, which will continue to follow existing age norms.

The new orders will be implemented for direct recruitments conducted by the Telangana State Level Police Recruitment Board. The board is responsible for managing the recruitment process for various uniformed services across the state. The revised rules and regulations incorporating the enhanced age limit will be officially published in the Telangana State Gazette, making them legally binding for all upcoming recruitment notifications.

This decision is expected to benefit thousands of candidates who have been preparing for uniformed service examinations but were concerned about age eligibility. The extended age limit provides aspirants with additional time to prepare and attempt competitive examinations for posts in police, fire services, prisons and special protection force departments across Telangana.
