The Telangana Information Commission (TGIC) will organise a two-day national conference on September 10 and 11 at the Administrative Staff College of India (ASCI) in Hyderabad. The conference, titled ‘Operational Uniformity in Implementation of RTI: Challenges and Solutions’, is sponsored by the National Federation of Information Commissioners in India (NFIIC) and organised in collaboration with ASCI.
Governor Shiv Prathap Shukla will be the chief guest at the inaugural session and deliver the keynote address. The conference will bring together Chief Information Commissioners, Information Commissioners, legal experts, policymakers, and senior administrators from across the country. Around 20 State Chief Information Commissioners are expected to participate in the event.
The conference will focus on strengthening the implementation of the Right to Information Act, 2005. Key areas of discussion include uniform procedures, reducing pendency, timely disposal of cases, and effective hearing mechanisms. Other important topics on the agenda are proactive disclosure under Section 4, digitisation, and capacity building of Public Information Officers and First Appellate Authorities.
Participants will also address concerns about the misuse of RTI without restricting legitimate citizen access. The conference aims to strengthen the independence and effectiveness of Information Commissions across the country. The event provides a platform for commissioners and experts to share best practices and develop solutions to common challenges in RTI implementation.
Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy will attend a dinner interaction with the Central Chief Information Commissioner and State Chief Information Commissioners on September 10. RTI Commissioners Boreddy Ayodhya Reddy, PV Srinivas, and others called on the Chief Minister in Hyderabad on Wednesday to discuss the conference arrangements.
