Prof T Papi Reddy, former chairman of the Telangana State Council of Higher Education (TSCHE), is speaking out against the government’s neglect of education in the state. Many other academicians in higher education have also been unhappy but have not expressed their concerns publicly. Universities are struggling financially, with delayed budget allocations and unpaid fee reimbursements. The lack of regular faculty is also impacting research and standards. Prof Papi Reddy has complained about the delay in recruiting teaching faculty and the lack of funds for academic and research activities. Efforts to collaborate with foreign universities have also been unsuccessful due to lack of government interest and funding. Other teaching faculty members from Osmania University and Kakatiya University have also criticized the state of higher education in Telangana.
