The Telangana government has launched one of its most ambitious transport infrastructure projects with the development of a 150-acre Mega Bus Terminal near Shamshabad. The facility is designed to transform the state’s public transport system by creating an integrated hub that will connect long-distance and city bus services. This major initiative aims to address growing traffic congestion and reduce the environmental impact of heavy vehicles entering the city’s core areas.

The proposed terminal will be located in Bahadurguda village, situated near the Rajiv Gandhi International Airport (RGIA). The strategic location has been selected to provide easy connectivity for passengers traveling from various districts and neighboring states. The 150-acre land parcel will house comprehensive facilities to accommodate the increasing volume of interstate and inter-district bus traffic while offering seamless transfer options to city transport services.

The primary purpose of this mega terminal is to serve as an integrated transport hub that will significantly reduce the entry of heavy diesel buses into the main city areas. By establishing this facility on the city’s outskirts, the government aims to minimize pollution levels and ease traffic congestion in central Hyderabad. Passengers arriving on long-distance buses will be able to transfer to city services at this terminal, eliminating the need for interstate buses to enter densely populated urban zones.

The Telangana State Road Transport Corporation (TGSRTC) has taken formal steps to acquire the land for this project. The corporation has officially submitted a request to the Rangareddy District Collector for the handover of the identified 150 acres in Bahadurguda village. This administrative process marks a crucial step toward the implementation of the project, which is expected to revolutionize public transport infrastructure in the region.

The mega terminal project aligns with the state government’s broader vision of modernizing public transport infrastructure and promoting sustainable urban development. By creating a centralized hub for district and interstate bus services, the facility will streamline operations for TGSRTC and private bus operators. The terminal is expected to feature modern amenities including waiting areas, ticket counters, food courts, and parking facilities to enhance passenger convenience.

The development of this transport hub represents a significant investment in Telangana’s infrastructure sector and is anticipated to improve connectivity across the state and beyond. Once operational, the Mega Bus Terminal will serve as a critical node in the region’s transport network, facilitating smoother movement of passengers while contributing to cleaner air quality in the city by keeping heavy diesel vehicles away from residential and commercial areas.
