Confusion Over Zilla Parishads in Warangal Finally Resolved

The Telangana government has put an end to the long-standing confusion over Zilla Parishads in the Warangal region. New orders have been issued to establish separate Zilla Parishads for Hanamkonda and Warangal districts, aligning them with the updated administrative boundaries.

The issue began in 2016 when the Warangal district was split into Warangal Urban and Warangal Rural districts. In 2021, these districts were renamed Hanamkonda and Warangal, but the Zilla Parishads continued to operate under their old names, causing confusion for officials, public representatives, and residents.

In 2016, the original Warangal district was divided into five districts: Warangal Urban, Warangal Rural, Jangaon, Mahabubabad, and Jayashankar Bhupalpally. Later, Mulugu district was added in 2019, increasing the total to six districts in the region.

Despite the renaming of Warangal Urban and Rural to Hanamkonda and Warangal in 2021, the Zilla Parishads were not updated to reflect these changes. This delay created operational difficulties, as jurisdictional boundaries were unclear.
