Confusion Over Zilla Parishads in Warangal Finally Resolved

The Telangana government has put an end to the long-standing confusion over Zilla Parishads in the Warangal region. New orders have been issued to establish separate Zilla Parishads for Hanamkonda and Warangal districts, aligning them with the updated administrative boundaries.

The issue began in 2016 when the Warangal district was split into Warangal Urban and Warangal Rural districts. In 2021, these districts were renamed Hanamkonda and Warangal, but the Zilla Parishads continued to operate under their old names, causing confusion for officials, public representatives, and residents.

    New Government Order Brings Clarity

On Tuesday night, the state government issued a new Government Order (GO MS No. 68) to clarify the Zilla Parishad structure. This decision comes just in time for the upcoming elections for Zilla Parishad governing bodies, whose terms have already expired.

The reorganization is expected to streamline administrative functioning and improve coordination between local authorities.

    The History of District Reorganization

In 2016, the original Warangal district was divided into five districts: Warangal Urban, Warangal Rural, Jangaon, Mahabubabad, and Jayashankar Bhupalpally. Later, Mulugu district was added in 2019, increasing the total to six districts in the region.

Despite the renaming of Warangal Urban and Rural to Hanamkonda and Warangal in 2021, the Zilla Parishads were not updated to reflect these changes. This delay created operational difficulties, as jurisdictional boundaries were unclear.

    New Zilla Parishad Mandal Allocations

The government has now finalized the allocations, assigning 12 mandals to Hanamkonda Zilla Parishad and 11 mandals to Warangal Zilla Parishad. The boundaries exclude mandals that fall entirely under the Greater Warangal Municipal Corporation (GWMC).

    Mandals Under Hanamkonda Zilla Parishad:
    1. Inavolu
    2. Hasanparthi
    3. Dharmasagar
    4. Velair
    5. Elkathurthy
    6. Bheemadevarapalli
    7. Kamalapur
    8. Parkal
    9. Nadikuda
    10. Atmakur
    11. Damer
    12. Shayampet

    Mandals Under Warangal Zilla Parishad:
    1. Geesukonda
    2. Sangem
    3. Vardhannapet
    4. Parvathagiri
    5. Raiparthy
    6. Narsampet
    7. Chennaraopet
    8. Nallabelli
    9. Duggondi
    10. Khanapur
    11. Nekkonda

    Relief for Officials and Residents

This long-overdue decision has brought relief to both officials and residents. With clearer jurisdictional boundaries, the Zilla Parishads can now function more efficiently. Government officials have been instructed to oversee the implementation of the new structure and provide daily progress reports.

The move marks a significant step toward resolving administrative challenges in the region and ensuring smoother governance.
