The Paigah Palace in Hyderabad has been given back to the Telangana government. It used to be the office of the US Consul General of Hyderabad, but they ended their lease on Monday. The Special Chief Secretary, MA&UD, Arvind Kumar was there when the lease was ended. The US Consulate Hyderabad has already moved to a new building in Nanakramguda, where it offers consular services.
The Paigah Palace is a heritage building, and the HMDA will now be responsible for looking after it. Arvind Kumar announced the news on Twitter. US Consul General of Hyderabad, Jenifer Larson also tweeted about the handover, and thanked the Government of Telangana for allowing them to use the building since 2007.
