Telangana, one of India’s youngest and fastest-growing states, is all set to host a major international event — the 72nd Miss World Festival. The historic showcase will take place from May 7 to May 31, 2025, with Hyderabad as the main host city. Contestants from over 100 countries will arrive to celebrate beauty, culture, and purpose on Indian soil.
The announcement was made during a grand press conference at Trident Hyderabad. Key dignitaries in attendance included Julia Morley CBE, Chairperson and CEO of the Miss World Organisation, Jupally Krishna Rao, Telangana’s Minister for Tourism and Culture, and Sri Patel Ramesh Reddy, Chairman of the Telangana Tourism Development Corporation. They were joined by Jayesh Ranjan, Special Chief Secretary for Tourism, and special guests Sonu Sood and Nandini Gupta, Miss World India 2023.
A major highlight was the announcement that Sonu Sood will receive the Humanitarian Award from the Miss World Organisation. He is being recognized for his impactful initiatives through the Sood Charity Foundation, which has supported countless people across India. Sonu will also serve as a judge at the Grand Finale.
Speaking on the occasion, Sonu said, “It’s an honour to be part of the 72nd Miss World, especially in my home country. I’m proud to support a platform that promotes purpose and change.” He also shared his excitement about partnering with the Miss World Organisation to raise awareness for a Cancer-Free World.
Hosting Miss World marks a defining moment for Telangana. Julia Morley praised the state’s hospitality and rich cultural heritage. “Telangana reflects the spirit of our mission — ‘Beauty With a Purpose.’ It’s the ideal place for a global celebration,” she said.
