Hyderabad: The Telangana Transport Department has decided to make roads safer by requiring transport vehicles to have QR code-enabled reflective tapes and rear marking plates. This rule will start from February 20.
To get their annual Fitness Certificate, transport vehicles must now have these reflective tapes. Without them, vehicles won’t receive the certification they need to operate. The goal is to make vehicles more visible at night, reducing accidents caused by poor visibility.
The department has chosen five companies to handle the installation of these reflective tapes. These companies can operate until February 8, 2027. The tapes will display the Telangana Transport Department logo and a unique QR code with a special serial number. This system will help verify the tapes’ authenticity and prevent misuse.
Once installed, vehicle owners will get a certification document. This document includes the vehicle registration number, company details, a photo of the installed tape, and warranty information. Officials recommend buying and installing tapes through authorized dealers to ensure compliance.
The government believes this measure will greatly improve road safety, especially at night, and help reduce accidents in Telangana.
