The Civil Supplies Department is preparing to issue new ration cards, with an initial batch of one lakh cards ready for distribution.

Chief Minister Revanth Reddy and Civil Supplies Minister Uttam Kumar Reddy recently held a review meeting to discuss this matter. During the meeting, officials were directed to start issuing ration cards in districts where the election code is not in effect.

The government also plans to distribute rice to ration cardholders by Ugadi. To achieve this, efforts are being made to procure the required quantity of rice.

Officials have already presented several ration card designs to the Chief Minister. The new cards will be issued in the name of the housewife and will be the size of an ATM card.

Each card will have a QR code containing the beneficiary’s address and ration shop number. It will also display photos of Chief Minister Revanth Reddy, Minister Uttam Kumar Reddy, and the government logo. However, it is still undecided whether the card will include a family photo or just the housewife’s photo.
