Hyderabad: The government is focused on creating eco-friendly tourist spots near Hyderabad for a peaceful retreat, announced Forest and Environment Minister Konda Surekha.
Minister Surekha opened the new Urban Eco Park and Cottages in Narsapur, Medak district, to boost eco-tourism while protecting nature. This park, featuring modern amenities like cottages, trekking and cycling paths, a watchtower, a swimming pool, and a nature education center, is set to become a favorite weekend spot for nature enthusiasts. She stressed the importance of green spaces and eco-parks to combat urban pollution and reconnect people, especially children, with nature.
The park spans 600 acres in Narsapur Reserve Forest and includes 33 new cottages, a restaurant, a seminar hall, a guest house, check dams, and eco-education facilities. Wildlife such as deer and peacocks add to its allure. The minister praised officials, local leaders, and partners for their dedication to promoting sustainable tourism and environmental awareness.
Plans are underway to integrate eco-tourism projects with temple sites, developing them with a spiritual focus. A unique plan for Niladri Hills, inspired by Madhya Pradesh’s Bhimbetka Hills, will be formulated, with funding from the Tourism and Endowments Departments to highlight it as a distinct eco-tourism attraction.
Upcoming projects are planned for Ananthagiri Hills (Vikarabad), Kanakagiri (Khammam), Mucherla Eco Park (Nalgonda), Manjeera Wildlife Sanctuary (Sangareddy), and other locations including Nandipet, Mannanur, Domalapenta, Amaragiri, Pakhal Lake, Kinnerasani, Nagarjuna Sagar, and Vanasthali.
