Temperature hovers over 43oC as Hyderabad reels under intense heat

Several places in Hyderabad experienced high temperatures between 42 and 43 degrees Celsius on June 2 and 3. Due to the Telangana Formation Day celebrations, schools and private offices were closed, and many people stayed at home to avoid the heat. The temperatures reached their highest point in the afternoon around 4 pm. On the second day, which was a weekend, people preferred to stay indoors as well.

On June 2, Khairatabad, Serilingampally, and Gachibowli had the highest temperatures at 43 degrees Celsius, while Charminar and Ramachandrapuram (BHEL area) had temperatures ranging from 41.6 to 41.8 degrees Celsius. On June 3, Khairatabad had the highest temperature at 42.6 degrees Celsius, followed by Serlingampally at 41.9 and Uppal at 41.5 degrees Celsius.

Temperatures in the districts surrounding Hyderabad were also extremely high, with Yanamballu in BhadradriKothagudem district recording a maximum of 46.4 degrees Celsius, Kagaznagar in KumumramBheem district at 46.1 degrees Celsius, and Tadvai in Mulugu district at 46 degrees Celsius.

The IMD-Hyderabad forecast predicts that extreme heat will continue for the next few days in Telangana. While some parts of Hyderabad may receive scattered thunderstorms, heatwave-like conditions are expected to dominate.
