The Telangana State Commission for Backward Classes is working on finalizing the methodology, modalities, and questionnaires for the upcoming ‘Caste Census’. This comes as the State government plans to conduct the census in July.

To prepare for the census, the commission recently held a meeting with experts, sociologists, caste leaders, people’s organizations, and NGOs. Commission Chairman Vakulabharanam Krishna Mohan Rao emphasized the importance of including socio-economic, educational, employability, political, and scientific aspects in the census to ensure its accuracy.

During the meeting, they also reviewed recent caste surveys conducted in other States such as Andhra Pradesh, Bihar, and Karnataka to discuss survey methodology in detail.
