The Telangana Human Rights Commission (TGHRC) on Tuesday issued an order to B Shivadhar Reddy, the Director-General of Police in Telangana, directing him to furnish a comprehensive factual report on the recent encounter in the Nizamabad district.
The incident which occurred on Monday has drawn the attention of the TGHRC, prompting them to seek a detailed explanation of the circumstances leading to the encounter. The commission has set a deadline of November 24, 2025, for the submission of this report.
Furthermore, the TGHRC has also requested information on the status of any ongoing magisterial or judicial investigations related to this encounter. This is seen as a move to ensure transparency and accountability in the operations of the police force.
Another significant aspect of the commission’s directive is the demand for compliance with the guidelines laid down by the Supreme Court and the National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) on encounter deaths.
